Our Mission
We exist to center and elevate the collective Black voice and experience at Butler University. We strive to lead the disruption and continued dismantling of systemic racism. We will cultivate the collective Black strengths to build and maintain a more inclusive community.
How We’re Fighting Racism
Visiting Black Intellectuals
This scholar-in-residence program showcases the Black community’s cultural life, intellectual traditions, and expressions by inviting Black role models to campus, where they connect with the Butler and Indianapolis communities through public lectures and performances, class visits, and other gatherings.

Empowering Students
We provide ongoing communication and advocacy for support of the Black Student Union (BSU) and other Black students who are not directly associated with the BSU.

Supporting Faculty & Staff
Black Faculty and Staff Affinity groups will be established to increase retention and growth of Black Butler employees. This includes mentorship across ranks and disciplines, resources to support professional development, and wellness support.
