Library Services
A library is more than just a collection of items and resources, so at Butler University Libraries we provide a variety of services to assist in the discovery, evaluation, use, and retrieval of information. Aside from borrowing books and media, students can also check out technology and other equipment, or reserve a study room. Our faculty librarians serve as liaisons to the colleges and academic departments, and can be consulted to provide assistance with information literacy instruction, collections requests, or research assistance. Because our ability to provide immediate access to print and online resources is limited compared to the entire universe of existing information resources, we provide Interlibrary Loan services to extend the access of Butler University users beyond our campus. For faculty wishing to provide special access to certain resources for their classes, our Reserves services are available at both Irwin and the Science Library.
Additionally, for faculty looking for assistance with how to effectively disseminate their scholarly work, or interested in publishing as pedagogy, our Scholarly Communication department is able to provide information and assistance on open access issues, the evolving scholarly publishing landscape, or entering your work into our Digital Commons institutional repository.
